Penang Umno flexes its supremacy on Gerakan
The Penang Umno liaison committee headed by Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is now demanding the current Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman (who is also the Gerakan president) Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon to vacate his BN position to pave way for an Umno leader to take over the said position.
The Penang Umno reasoned that the current chair held by the Gerakan president could no longer command the state BN coordination committee effectively as the party had lost all its state assembly and parliamentary seats to PKR and DAP in the last general elections.
Besides, the Penang Umno is also urging the BN supreme council to appoint the new chair of Penang BN from amongst Umno leaders as soon as possible to enable it to function effectively.
The BN said they are being fair to their component parties all these while, but what we saw recently was Umno again took advantage by flexing their muscle against the already weakened Gerakan in Penang.
Come on Gerakan! Are you going to continue staying in the BN fold when you are being treated in such a low cast way? Where are your guts and dignity? Your BN buddy from Sabah, the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) had stated her frustration on the Sabah Umno supremacy reign and left the BN coalition long ago.
Gerakan, are you all afraid of losing your positions as minister, deputy ministers, executive councilors, municipal councilors, penghulus and JKKK members? Because of these positions, you had choose to remain and “kow tow” to the supreme Umno leaders even to an extent of being enslaved.
It clearly shows that you are afraid of them, afraid of yourselves, afraid of your own shadows and fear of losing your positions that you had used to enjoy since 1970.
If you Gerakanist has the real guts and dignities, you all should have dump the BN coalition and Umno long ago to be on its own or perhaps joining force with Pakatan Rakyat to strive for towards non-racial approach in our society. What kind of Bangsa Malaysia or Anak Malaysia have you achieved in the BN fold so far? Did Umno accept and supported your ideologies?
People are now seeing the Gerakan as mere puppets of the Umno leadership and a mere “Chinese Window Dress” in the BN coalition government. They can continue kneeling down on Umno for as long as they wish to.
To all disgruntled Gerakan leaders and members, if you all still love your party, leave it and come out in numbers to establish a Gerakan Revolutionary Committee (GRC) and strive with us for justice, equality and a true Bangsa Malaysia. You have no other choice but to seek GRC as your new platform.
