Penang DAP Convention

The Penang DAP will be holding its annual state convention tomorrow morning from 10.30am to 3.30pm at Tanjung Bungah Beach Hotel.

Penang Chief Minister and DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan is expected to officiate the annual convention. Top leaders expected to present are National Chairman Karpal Singh, National Vice Chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim, Perak Chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham, Socialist Youth Chief Ngah Kor Ming, National Organising Secretary Teresa Kok, DAP Parliamentary Leader Lim Kit Siang and party veteran Dr Chen Man Hin.

Wahai Umno dan kesemua NGO-NGO yang diperhamba olehnya, janganlah berlagak-lagak seperti Tuhan. Siapakah kamu-kamu semua untuk memberikan satu ketetapan ataupun sejenis "fatwa" untuk mensabitkan seorang itu bersalah oleh kerana beliau hanya memberikan kenyataan itu berpandukan apa yang tertera di dalam ajaran Al-Quran (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:56). Para pemimpin Umno dan hamba-hamba NGO di bawahnya tidak berhak untuk mengarah ataupun menentukan mana-mana pihak yang bersalah dan dihukum. Kalaulah seseorang itu benar-benar bersalah, sudah lama orang tersebut telah menerima akibatnya. Tetapi kenapa sehingga kini, orang tersebut masih selamat berada di bumi ini? Say no to racist politicians

We cannot ignore the ugly truth that racism is the consequence of privilege, institutionalised discrimination and the claim of supremacy by one group. The sad thing is that there is no national effort on a credible scale to destroy the racist mentality. We must destroy racism by openly condemning it and rejecting it in whatever form it takes, including the form of a race-based political party. The result of the 2008 general election did provide a ray of hope for a political system dominated by two multiracial parties, but the euphoria was short-lived. No true political observer can be oblivious of the fact that racial politicking is making a comeback and threatening to push the nation ever backward.
